Family Promise

AUMC is very proud to have been able to participate in the Green County Family Promise Organization. A few times a year we would host anyone who needed a bed to sleep in and a warm meal for a week at a time. We had volunteers to help make the meals and to stay with the families for the evening and night time.
Family Promise has now purchased property and a building to house anyone in need of a bed to sleep in and a warm meal. Also they have planted on the Family Promise property in honor of Melva Tschanz an area called Melva’s Garden. The Family Promise Center is located at 615 26th Street, Monroe. The mission of Family Promise of Green County is to help homeless and low income families achieve sustainable independence. Please see below what they offer families in need:
All Family Promise guest families receive:
- Overnight accommodations
- 3 meals a day
- Intensive case management
- Family Day Center/office with internet access, guest phone, laundry and showers
- Transportation assistance to school, work, etc.
- Social support from volunteers
- Linkage with needed social and educational services
There are 5 basic elements of the program. First is where we provide overnight accommodations. We also include breakfast, brown-bag lunch, dinner and hospitality. Along with this is the 2nd element which is Volunteers which we need for that week. Without it, this program would not be possible.
The other 3 elements are Social Service Agencies, Day Center and Transportation daily. With all these elements they are able to help families get back on their feet. The success rate is 81% of those they help. Please go to their website to see more about this wonderful program.
Please consider Volunteering for Family Promise. Program is on hold for now.

Our Food Pantry serves the Albany Community for anyone who is in need of help. The food pantry hands out non-perishable items – no meat, milk or cold items. Feel free to drop off donations at the church at any time.
Because of lack of use, the Albany UMC food pantry will be closing January 1st, 2021. For several months there has been very little to no use of the food pantry. We are not completely shutting down our connection with the food pantry. You may still make donations of food to the Albany UMC and they will be distributed to Food Pantries around our area. If down the road the need arises, we will open a discussion to review reopening the food pantry. We would like to thank everyone who has generously donated time, food and money to the food pantry.
Melody of Love – 2022

Each month an organization receives the money collected. Below is a list of all the organizations we have donated to in the past. Any donations that are given and designated for the monthly missions are accepted as well.
